Jewelry Care

These pieces were made to be lived in. Here is how to keep them close for a lifetime.

With proper care, your instant heirlooms — handcrafted in solid gold and set with the earth's most extraordinary gemstones — are made to be worn and cherished for generations. The following guidance will help preserve your jewelry at its finest.

Our Guidelines

The Four Pillars of Jewelry Care

  • Storage

Store each piece individually in a soft pouch or lined box to prevent scratching and tangles.

  • Cleaning

Gentle care with warm water and a soft bristle brush preserves gold's natural brilliance.

  • Wearing

Remove before bathing, exercising, or sleeping to protect your jewelry's finish and stones.

  • Repairs

If a prong loosens or a stone shifts, bring your piece in for a complimentary inspection.

By Material

Care by Material

Each material has its own nature. Select your piece to learn how best to care for it.

Gold

Solid gold is remarkably resilient, but thrives best when shielded from daily wear's harshest elements.

Care for

  • Polish gently with a gold polishing cloth
  • Clean with warm water, a drop of mild soap, and a soft brush
  • Store individually in the provided silk pouch
  • Bring in annually for a professional polish

Avoid

  • Exposure to chlorine, bleach, or harsh chemicals
  • Ultrasonic cleaners for pavé or bezel settings
  • Contact with perfumes, hairsprays, or body lotions
  • Wearing while exercising or swimming
Diamonds

Diamonds are the hardest natural substance on earth, yet their settings and surrounding metals still require attentive care.

Care for

  • Clean regularly with a soft brush and gentle soap solution
  • Inspect prongs every six months for security
  • Store separately to avoid scratching other pieces

Avoid

  • Abrasive cleaning cloths or toothpaste
  • Chlorine and ammonia-based cleaners
  • Removing by pulling the stone — always handle the band
Opals & Moonstones

Opals and blue sheen moonstones carry water within their structure — they're luminous, ethereal, and deserve especially gentle treatment.

Care for

  • Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth
  • Store away from direct sunlight and extreme heat
  • Wear often — natural oils from your skin help preserve them

Avoid

  • Submerging in water or any liquid
  • Ultrasonic or steam cleaners
  • Exposure to harsh temperature changes
  • Chemical contact of any kind
Rubies & Sapphires

Corundum gemstones are among the world's hardest, yet their brilliance is best maintained with mindful care.

Care for

  • Clean with warm soapy water and a soft brush
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry with a lint-free cloth
  • Store in a padded box away from direct sunlight

Avoid

  • Submerging rubies in water for extended periods
  • Ultrasonic cleaners if the stone is fracture-filled
  • Exposure to strong acids or abrasive cleaners
Pearls & Organic Gems

Pearls are born of the sea and among the most delicate of nature's gifts — the last to put on, the first to take off.

Care for

  • Wipe with a soft damp cloth after each wear
  • Re-string pearl necklaces every 1–2 years with a reputable jeweler
  • Store flat in a soft pouch away from other jewelry

Avoid

  • Contact with perfume, hairspray, or makeup
  • Exposure to direct sunlight or dry heat
  • Ultrasonic or steam cleaners
  • Soaking in any liquid

Storage & Travel

Where your jewelry rests matters.

Your Logan Hollowell pieces arrive in a protective pouch designed for daily and travel storage. We recommend keeping each piece individually wrapped to prevent contact and minimize surface wear.

  • Individual pouches

Store each piece in its own silk pouch to prevent scratching between metals and stones.

  • Flat storage

Lay necklaces and bracelets flat rather than hanging to avoid stress on delicate links and clasps.

  • Travel jewelry roll

When traveling, a soft roll keeps pieces separated and cushioned without bulk in your luggage.
