A Tribute to Motherhood

A Tribute to Motherhood

We sat down with our goddess, Donna Hollowell, Logan’s mom, to hear about her journey through motherhood. As a mother of four, Donna shared heartfelt wisdom and reflected on how her love for nature has influenced her children, particularly Logan’s creative path.

Discover which pieces resonate with her—and which one she even inspired herself.

What Does Jewelry Mean to You?

For me, jewelry is a reminder of special moments and a reflection of self-love. When I receive a piece of jewelry, it makes me feel so honored and appreciated. When I wear it, it’s a reminder of the person who gave it to me or the special occasion it represents. But I also believe that purchasing jewelry for myself - especially as I’ve gotten older - has become a beautiful way of honoring my own journey. In the past, jewelry was almost always something you received as a gift. It wasn’t as common for women to treat themselves to a meaningful piece, but now I think it’s such a wonderful way to build confidence and celebrate yourself.

Jewelry has become a symbol of milestones and rites of passage, especially with things like “push presents” for new mothers. I see so many women now, buying something special for themselves to mark these major life changes, and I think that’s so beautiful. Motherhood is such a big part of a woman’s life—it’s a new beginning, a fresh chapter. It’s truly something to celebrate.

How Did the Song "You Are My Sunshine" Inspire the Sunshine Necklace?

When Logan was a baby, I used to sing “You Are My Sunshine” to her all the time. It was just my way of telling her how much light and warmth she brought into my life. That song wasn’t just a lullaby—it was my affirmation of how she feels like sunshine in my world. It’s amazing to see something so personal evolve into a piece that resonates with so many others. It’s truly special.

If You had to Pick One Piece that Represents Your Essence, Which Would It Be and Why?

I love the Emerald Nautilus ring which reminds me so much of a lighthouse, a symbol of strength and resilience. I’ve always been drawn to how a lighthouse stands firm against the crashing waves, guiding ships safely through the storm. Life is full of challenges, and I see that ring as a reflection of my own journey—steadfast, providing light and guidance, even when things get tough. I aspire to embody that same strength, always standing strong in the face of life’s waves. The emerald emerald is my birthstone, so it’s a natural fit and a symbol of nature and harmony, which are core to who I am.

How Has Your Connection to Nature Played a Part in Your Approach to Motherhood?

Growing up, I was always surrounded by nature. We lived the woods and I spent hours talking to my horses and exploring the streams and walking along the paths. My mother and grandmother taught me so much about the world around us—the plants, the trees, even the bugs.

That love for nature is something I’ve passed down to my own kids. I always wanted them to see the beauty in the world around them and not be afraid of it—whether it was a spider, a snake, or just the unknown. I encouraged my children to observe and appreciate nature, not to fear it and to see the world through that same lens of wonder and respect. Logan likes to call me the “Queen of the Forest.”

What Advice Would You Give to a New Mom?

My advice is simple: Be patient and enjoy all of the moments. Motherhood moves so quickly, and the days may feel long, but the years are short. Just be there with your child—be present. Don’t rush through the stages, because before you know it, they’ll be grown. You’ll look back and wish you had savored those little moments more.
